A tree, a train, and broken power poles

Some Habersham EMC customers found themselves in the dark after a train got caught up in a power line.

In Mt. Airy, a tree fell on a section of line crossing the railroad tracks and a train caught the line Sunday night,  says Habersham EMC’s Director of Strategy Nicole Dover. As a result, two poles were broken and three others were damaged.

“Those poles had to be replaced and railroad personnel onsite before the new line could cross the tracks,” Dover explains.

Power was restored in the affected area overnight.
