The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 11:00 PM EDT for Gilmer County, eastern Murray County, northwestern Dawson County, northern Pickens County, and northwestern Fannin County.
At 10:14 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Conasauga Lake to near Cartecay, moving south at 15 mph.
The storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail. These hazards could result in hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Communities that may be impacted include Jasper, Ellijay, Eton, East Ellijay, Talking Rock, Amicalola Falls State Park, Crandall, Sequoyah Lake, Talona, Tails Creek, Jones Mill, Conasauga Lake, Cartecay, Blaine, Mountaintown, Fort Mountain State Park, Roy, Hinton, and Roundtop.
Residents in the warned area should move indoors to a sturdy building and take shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor. Stay away from windows and continue to monitor updates as these storms move through the region.

At 10:48 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Tate, or near Jasper, and was moving south at 30 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts up to 60 mph

Impact: Winds this strong may cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include: Canton, Jasper, Holly Springs, Ball Ground, Nelson, Waleska, Talking Rock, Free Home, Buffington, Hickory Flat, Union Hill, Lake Arrowhead, Sequoyah Lake, Marblehill, Salacoa Valley, Blaine, Lake Tamarack, Talmadge, Holbrook, and Lathemtown.
Residents in Cherokee and Pickens Counties should seek shelter indoors and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions as this storm moves southward.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect through 1AM for much of Northeast Georgia.
Banks, Catoosa, Cherokee, Dade, Dawson, Elbert, Fannin, Forsyth, Franklin, Gilmer, Gordon, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, Murray, Pickens, Stephens, Union, Walker, White, and Whitfield Counties are all under the watch.
Damaging winds are the main threat, although isolated tornadoes are possible along with large hail.
WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES
The strong winds and heavy rains have resulted in widespread downed trees, powerlines and power outages. As of 10:30PM HEMC is reporting 11,089 customers without power, down from a peak of roughly 12,000.
Georgia Power is reporting 5,415 without power and Blue Ridge EMC has 7,500 outages across their Georgia and North Carolina territory.
Wind gusts of 30-40 m.p.h. were common which resulted in downed trees and powerlines. The Cornelia Fire Station reported a gust of 64 m.p.h. Numerous roads are blocked and it is highly recommended to remain home until daylight hours when travel will gradually improve.
No additional severe weather is expected once the line of storms moves past your location and the Severe Thunderstorm Watch is slowly being cancelled from north to south.
