ATHENS — A 17-year-old Athens male was killed and an 18-year-old woman was injured in a shooting early Friday, according to Athens-Clarke County Police Department PIO Lt. Katie Jenkins.
Officers responded at approximately 5:49 a.m. May 8 to a report of gunshots in the area of Rowe Road. At the same time, two victims arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
The 17-year-old male later died at the hospital. The 18-year-old female, identified as Jamya Grisson of Athens, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to Jenkins.
Following the investigation, police determined the incident occurred in the 100 block of Rowe Road.
Jakel Arnold, 22, of Athens, has been arrested and charged with felony murder, malice murder, four counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
