WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — White County officials will celebrate the grand opening of the county’s newest fire station Thursday morning, marking a significant expansion of emergency services in one of the area’s fastest-growing communities.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fire Station 9 is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, at the station’s new location on Sonny’s Circle off Duncan Bridge Road near Mount Yonah Elementary School.

County leaders say the new station represents a major investment in public safety and will enhance emergency response capabilities for residents in the Mount Yonah area and surrounding communities.

Funded entirely through Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) revenues, the project was completed without increasing property taxes for White County residents. The station was constructed under the management of Precision United of Cleveland.

Fire Station 9 is expected to improve fire protection coverage for more than 1,500 structures, reduce emergency response times, and strengthen fire and rescue services in a rapidly developing portion of the county. Officials also note that some property owners could benefit from improved fire protection classifications.

As White County continues to experience growth, county officials say the new station will help ensure emergency services keep pace with the needs of both residents and visitors.

The public is invited to attend the grand opening ceremony. Overflow parking will be available at Mount Yonah Elementary School. A shuttle will run from the school to the new fire station for those parking there.
