White County commissioners this week approved a resolution amending the county Code to streamline the process for obtaining professional fireworks permits.
Anyone hiring a pyrotechnics company for a display must have a permit. Previously, the probate court office issued those permits, but White County Fire Services had to approve them before the probate finalized them.
Now, under the new system, White County Fire Services will issue the permits and collect the fees.
Individual or personal fireworks displays do not require a permit.
