White County arrest report briefly lists ‘Mickey Mouse’ as suspect

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — Earlier this month, one of the world’s most recognizable names appeared in an unlikely place: the White County arrest report.

For a brief moment, it appeared that Mickey Mouse — yes, that Mickey Mouse — had run afoul of the law.

The arrest report listed:

MOUSE, MICKEY CLUBHOUSE
Age: 94
Address: Orlando, Florida
Charges: possession of marijuana and failure to maintain lane

Before there was even time to request a mug shot, officials quickly clarified that the entry was never a real arrest.

According to the sheriff’s office, the record was created as part of a training exercise while staff were teaching a new employee how to properly enter booking information into the jail system. To demonstrate the process, the trainer used a fictional name familiar to nearly everyone.

Unfortunately, the training entry wasn’t removed before the report was released publicly, allowing the famous mouse to make a brief appearance in the county’s official records.

Officials stressed that no actual person was arrested, no residents of Orlando were transported to White County, and, perhaps most importantly, there is no active warrant out for the world’s most famous rodent.

Still, the sheriff’s office noted that while the suspect may have been fictional, the county’s approach to drug enforcement is not.

“Cartoon or not, illegal drugs will not be tolerated in White County,” officials said, adding that the law is enforced equally, “no matter who you are.”

The mistaken entry has since been removed, and the sheriff’s office says it has taken steps to ensure training records remain internal so similar mix-ups don’t occur in the future.

In a social media post explaining the error, the sheriff’s office wrote, “We appreciate your understanding (and sense of humor).”
