HARTWELL, Ga. — Two Hartwell residents are now in custody after fleeing from deputies during a motorcycle chase.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported that 23-year-old Toby Haygood and 22-year-old Lindsey Crowe were arrested two days after officials issued a lookout for them.

According to Sheriff Chris Carroll, Haygood fled from a deputy during an attempted traffic stop on Saturday, March 28. Haygood drove a motorcycle into a Walmart parking lot, where Carroll said he struck another vehicle.

“Following the crash, the driver of the motorcycle fled the scene on foot and entered another vehicle, which then left the area,” the sheriff said.

Following an investigation, deputies obtained warrants for Haygood and Crowe and asked for the public’s help to find them. The sheriff’s office announced on Monday morning, March 28, that the two were in custody.

Officials charged Haygood with felony fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving on a suspended or revoked license, no registration, and hit and run. Crowe was charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude.
