A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the following counties until 10:00 p.m.: Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Habersham, Lumpkin, Murray, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, Union, Walker White and Whitfield.
Storms are expected to develop and push east into a hot, unstable airmass across North Georgia this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds up to 60MPH are the main threat, with torrential rain, frequent lightning and small hail also possible.
