A pedestrian was struck and killed in Upatoi early Monday August 31, 2026. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said the 33-year-old victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The woman’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin the coroner said. The incident happened on Macon Road or Highway 80 at Woodhaven Road.
The crash closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 80 during the morning commute according to the Georgia Department of Transportation while the Columbus Police Department’s motor squad unit responded to the scene. There are no charges pending in connection to the deadly crash at this time.
