Overnight fire destroys commercial building on Dawsonville Highway

A commercial building on the 2000 block of Dawsonville Highway was destroyed in a fire early Monday morning, according to Hall County officials.

Emergency crews from Hall County Fire Rescue and the Gainesville Fire Department responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, after receiving reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story building fully engulfed in flames, with fire threatening nearby structures.

Gainesville fire crews launched a defensive attack and were able to quickly knock down the bulk of the blaze. Despite their efforts, the building was declared a total loss. A primary search of the structure confirmed that no one was inside at the time of the fire.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office assisted by shutting down a portion of Dawsonville Highway to allow emergency crews to work safely.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
