A departing upper level low left a wintry surprise on Brasstown Bald overnight, dropping a light dusting of snow as temperatures plunged under the core of a strong storm system.

It wasn’t much, but it was enough to pause shuttle service to the summit Monday morning. Park officials shared photos on social media and warned visitors about icy road conditions.
“Due to snow overnight and current icy road conditions, shuttle service will be suspended until further notice at Brasstown Bald today. Check back for further updates!” officials posted early Monday.
About two hours later, the park confirmed the shuttle would remain closed for the rest of the day, saying the closure was “for the safety of our staff and guests.”
Monday’s light coating marks the first wintry precipitation of the season in North Georgia.
