
A Sergeant employed by the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office is being recognized locally for her mental health work inside the county jail. Sergeant Talitha D. Ramsey was unanimously selected as the 2026 Columbus Bar Association’s Liberty Bell Award Winner according to Sheriff Greg Countryman. The Liberty Bell Award recognizes persons outside the legal profession who have served to promote a greater respect for law and the courts (including protecting people’s Constitutional rights) and whose work contributes to the effective functioning of our institutions the sheriff said on Facebook.
“Sgt. Ramsey serves as our Mental Health Services Liaison and supports the coordination and oversight of mental health services for individuals housed in the county jail. The primary focus of this role has been to improve access to behavioral health treatment, strengthen interagency collaboration, and promote continuity of care during incarceration and upon release.”
