
The Rio Paralympics have come to a close for Clarkesville’s McKenzie Coan. The twenty-year-old, two-time Paralympian wrapped up her games with a gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle run on Friday night.
In six events, Coan earned four medals, including individual gold medals in the 50-meter freestyle (32.42 Paralympic record), the 400-meter freestyle and the 100-meter freestyle. Coan also earned a silver medal in the 4×100 freestyle.
She placed fifth in the 100-meter backstroke and sixth in the 50-meter butterfly. Coan stamped her place as one of the top performers in freestyle events.
