Clarkesville swore in three members to the Downtown Development Authority on Monday. Mayor Barrie Aycock administered the oath of office to Don Nix, Claudia Lyle, and Ivy Hall.

The brief swearing-in ceremony was held during the February 6 Clarkesville City Council meeting. The DDA is made up of local residents and business owners appointed by the city council.

According to Clarkesville’s website, the Authority’s focus is to improve the downtown district. State law gives the Authority the power to enter into contracts, provide loans, purchase property, receive grants, borrow revenue bonds, and borrow money.
