The world feels quieter without you. Maria de las Mercedes “Mercy” Falco passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. Maria was funny, caring, and full of warmth. She was an incredibly strong woman, defined by a rare sense of compassion and a forgiving heart. Her smile and laughter lit up rooms, and she was always willing to offer a helping hand.
Maria was born in Placetas, Cuba, on February 22, 1954. She was a hard worker and enjoyed the little things in life. She loved to draw and color, do word searches and play with her grandchildren. She loved and lived for her family. They were her greatest joy, her purpose, and the center of every choice she made.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Reinaldo Perez and Ofelia Gonzalez-Pardo, her husband, Arnaldo Falco, as well as her sister, Maria “Cuca” De La Caridad.
Survivors include daughter and daughter-in-law Patty and Christy Falco of Demorest, daughter Stephanie Falco (Vladimir Pons) of Labelle, FL, grandchildren Sophia Pons, Victoria Pons, Oliver Falco and Sebastian Pons, as well as niece Maruchy Gomez of Miami, FL.
The family would like to thank the staff at New Horizons Habersham, Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Habersham Retreat, Catholic Charities – Wilton Manors Day Center, and Appalachian Hospice for the loving care that Maria and her family received.
Maria’s absence is immeasurable, but so is the love she leaves behind.
A celebration of her life will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Hillside Memorial Chapel. Maria loved floral prints and bright colors. She always brought color into our lives, so please skip the black clothing and wear your favorite bright or floral print.
A service and celebration of life will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Miami, FL, at a later date.
