Justin Michael McGuire of Lula died on Wednesday, June 16, after he was hit by a train in Gainesville.
The 33-year-old was hit on the tracks next to Atlanta Highway near Ray Street and found behind a business. According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, McGuire was walking north on the train tracks in that area. The conductor of the train spotted McGuire and sounded the train’s horn multiple times.
Hall County Fire Services and the Gainesville Fire Department responded to a 911 call around 6:20 pm from Norfolk Southern concerning the incident. McGuire died at the scene.
This incident is still under investigation; no charges are expected.
