Local students perform in Auburn University Middle School Honor Band

Habersham County middle school band students visit the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Art at Auburn University.

Habersham County was well represented at the 8th Annual Auburn University Middle School Honor Band, which was held this past weekend. Of the 72 schools represented and 242 total participants, 18 were from Habersham’s three middle schools.

The students were nominated by their band directors based on their mastery of their instrument, excellent performance skills, academic merit, and excellent behavior.

Besides rehearsing and performing music, the students stayed busy with recreational activities, and even took an educational visit to the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Art at Auburn. They took a guided tour of the museum, and got to explore exhibits of famous Korean-American artist Jiha Moon and a collection of local Alabama artists.
