Elbert County authorities have opened an investigation after a recent discovery of human remains.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed human remains were recently discovered “in a wooded area,” according to the Elbert County Coroner’s Office.
The remains have been sent to the medical examiner’s office for positive identification, according to police, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
