LAVONIA, Ga. — Downtown Lavonia will come alive with music, food and patriotic festivities Saturday as the city celebrates America’s 250th birthday with a free community event capped by a drone light show.

The celebration will take place from 5 to 9:30 p.m. June 20 at the Lavonia Gazebo, located at 1210 E. Main St.

Hosted by the City of Lavonia, the Lavonia Downtown Development Authority and the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, the event is designed to bring families and visitors together for an evening of entertainment, local shopping and community spirit.

Live music will begin at 5 p.m. with the DiMarco Band, followed by the Chris Hampton Band from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The evening will conclude with a patriotic drone show presented by Open Sky at 9:30 p.m. Organizers say the aerial display will celebrate the nation’s semiquincentennial, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Coca-Cola will also be on hand with activities, giveaways and other attractions throughout the event.

Food vendors scheduled to participate include Chick-fil-A Lavonia, Top Dawg Grillers, Moose’s Sweets & Treats Ice Cream Truck, The Groovy Fizz LLC and The P-Nut Guy.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to browse local vendors offering patriotic merchandise, handmade goods, gifts and other products.

Organizers are encouraging visitors to bring lawn chairs and spend the evening in downtown Lavonia celebrating the nation’s milestone anniversary.

Admission is free.

Event organizers also recognized local sponsors and “Downtown Dreamers” supporters whose contributions help make free community events possible throughout the year.
