On April 11, 2025, at approximately 7:40 PM, officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at 805 Monroe Street. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim, identified as Demarrion Carter, had already been transported to a local hospital by family members.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the 14-year-old victim was outside his residence when an unidentified individual approached him and discharged a firearm. Carter sustained critical injuries as a result of the shooting and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
On April 22, 2026, after a lengthy investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the LaGrange Police Department, the evidence in this case determined that the individual responsible for this crime is Jeremiah Elijah Ford. Jeremiah Ford was taken into custody this date and transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center. Ford is being charged as an adult in this murder.
