Multiple incident reports obtained by NowGeorgia.com detail alleged sexual misconduct by a Lee County Sheriff’s deputy. The documents provide a narrative involving Deputy Arthur Marbury and his behavior during consecutive traffic stops with the same woman.

The report states that on or about October 18, 2026, the victim was first pulled over by the deputy in front of Concord Church on Highway 280 around midnight because the registered owner of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant. Before the deputy let the woman go, he asked for her phone number and entered it into his cell phone.

The report states the deputy called the victim after she drove away requesting her to pull over a second time, but the victim declined because the area was too dark. The deputy allegedly called again requesting the woman stop so she pulled in the median on Highway 280 near Opelika city limits.

When the victim got out of the vehicle during the second stop the deputy “kissed her and put his hand under her dress,” according to the report. The woman reported being “startled” by the deputy’s conduct and got back into her vehicle and drove away.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office dispatch system revealed the traffic stop made in front of the church involved Deputy Arthur Marbury. Marbury reportedly resigned from the sheriff’s office October 22, 2026, amidst an ongoing investigation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones did not respond to a call for comment at the time this report was published.
