CLEVELAND — The White County Historical Society kicks off the country’s 250th anniversary with a “Salute to Armed Forces Day” and open house Saturday, May 16.
The event begins on the lawn at the historic courthouse museum at 10 a.m. with a presentation of arms and a 21-gun salute by the White County Color Guard. Students from the White County Middle School Chorus will perform the National Anthem as well as additional patriotic songs.
Garrison Baker, Historical Society president, said, “This is a free event with guided tours of the museum, free popcorn, free American flags and a koozie with a $1 Coke purchase.”
According to Baker, veterans will be present throughout the day to answer questions about their time serving the country.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event to celebrate the Armed Forces and learn about the country’s history.
