HEMC business clients targeted by scam

Habersham EMC is warning area businesses about a phone scam that’s circulating.

The local electric cooperative says some members with commercial accounts have received phone calls telling them their power will be disconnected unless they make a payment.

If you receive such a call, HEMC advises do no give out any personal information and hang up at once. You should also report the call to local law enforcement.

HEMC members who have questions about their accounts should call Member Services at 
706-754-2114, 706-865-4362 or 800-640-6812.

HEMC serves six Northeast Georgia counties including Habersham, Hall, White, Lumpkin, Rabun, and Stephens.
