Helen Police warn of ‘porch thief’ operating in area

The Helen Police Department Monday alerted residents to be on the lookout for a man stealing packages from porches.

“There is a porch thief operating in the Helen area,” the notice states.

The only description they give is that he’s a white male driving a small pickup or a small SUV.

“Please keep your eyes open,” the police ask. They also encourage homeowners to take precautions to prevent their packages from being stolen.

“Have your neighbors get your packages for you if you are not going to be home,” they say.
