AUGUSTA, Ga. — A man wanted in the fatal shooting of an Oakwood woman at a convenience store last week has been arrested in Augusta after a weeklong search involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

45-year-old Antwane Sintell Thurmond of Oakwood was taken into custody around 4:10 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at the Motel 6 on Wrightsboro Road, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Thurmond was alone in a motel room when special teams with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office approached the hotel and arrested him without incident.

Hall County investigators were in Augusta at the time of the arrest. The search for Thurmond involved assistance from the FBI Safe Streets Task Force in Gainesville, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Richmond County Gang Unit.

Thurmond is currently being held at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have not said whether he faces any charges in Richmond County.

He will be transported to the Hall County Jail as soon as possible, where he is expected to face charges of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act in connection with the death of 44-year-old Tia Vidon Keith.

Keith was fatally shot on the night of July 16 at the Subhanallah Food Mart on Mountain View Road in Oakwood. Investigators have said Thurmond and Keith were formerly in a relationship and had previously lived together.
