CLARKESVILLE, Ga. — Habersham County has canceled all activities associated with its America 250 celebration except for the dedication of the historic courthouse bell.
The bell unveiling will still take place at noon today, July 11, at the Habersham County Courthouse as planned. However, due to the weather, county officials have canceled the remainder of the event, including the family activities and other festivities that had been scheduled to follow the ceremony, according to Habersham County Public Information Officer Ashlyn Brady.
The restored courthouse bell, which dates to the 1920s and once hung in Habersham County’s historic courthouse, will be permanently displayed on a monument near the entrance of the new courthouse.
Meanwhile, the City of Clarkesville’s Red, White and Tunes celebration will proceed as scheduled. The event begins at 5 p.m. at Pitts Park and will be held rain or shine.
