A former Boy Scout leader now faces child molestation charges, according to GBI.

Andrew Howard Whaley, 61, of Cumming, has been arrested and charged in connection with child molestation, child pornography and surveillance offenses following an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Whaley faces one count of aggravated child molestation, one count of child molestation and one count of possession of child pornography in Lumpkin County. He also has been charged in Forsyth County with six counts of creation of child pornography and thirteen counts of Eavesdropping/Surveillance.

The GBI’s investigation began in April after they received a request to investigate a child molestation case in Lumpkin County allegedly involving Whaley. Investigators determined that Whaley, who was a former Boy Scout Leader, had allegedly sexually abused a boy he met during his time with the organization.

On May 16, GBI agents and the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants at Whaley’s cabin and a business in Lumpkin County. During the searches, agents discovered evidence of child pornography.

Further investigation led authorities to Whaley’s home in Forsyth County, where they uncovered a hidden camera in a bathroom that Whaley allegedly used to film minors.

Whaley was arrested on May 16 and is currently incarcerated at the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
