
LULA, Ga. — Firefighters contained a Tuesday morning house fire in Banks County to the home’s HVAC system and basement, with no injuries reported, according to Fire Chief Steve Nichols.
Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded at 10:44 a.m. April 14 to a reported structure fire at 706 Garrison Road in Lula. Crews arrived to find a single-family residence with light smoke showing and quickly initiated an aggressive interior attack, Nichols said.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and limit damage to the HVAC system and basement area. Smoke extended throughout the residence, and the home sustained moderate damage, Nichols said.
No injuries were reported, and the occupant was home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire was listed as accidental. Officials said the HVAC system could not be ruled out as the source.
The incident was cleared at 12:02 p.m., Nichols said.
