Elberton man dies after single-vehicle crash in Dewy Rose

DEWY ROSE, Ga. — A 77-year-old Elberton man has died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash in Elbert County.

Elbert County Coroner Chuck Almond identified the victim as Wayne Thomas Johnson.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:09 p.m. Sept. 11 on Nickville Road in Dewy Rose. Johnson was treated at the scene and transported by Elbert County EMS to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to Almond.

Elbert County E911, EMS, first responders, the sheriff’s office, Georgia State Patrol, and the coroner’s office responded to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Elbert County Coroner’s Office, Elbert County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol.
