HART COUNTY, Ga. — An Elberton man faces felony charges after a Saturday night pursuit ended in a crash along Reed Creek Highway, according to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the driver as 27-year-old Worley Lorenzo Robinson. Officials say Robinson is expected to be charged with driving under the influence, among other offenses.

The incident began around 9 p.m., March 28, when a deputy observed a black Dodge Challenger “laying drag” and driving recklessly near the intersection of Chandler Street and West Franklin Street, said Hart County Sheriff Chris Carroll.

He said the deputy attempted a traffic stop on Chandler Street/Highway 51, but the driver failed to stop, prompting a pursuit. The vehicle continued north on Reed Creek Highway before Robinson lost control and crashed near Tahoe Drive. No other vehicles were involved.

Emergency crews from Hart County Fire and Hart County EMS responded to the scene. Robinson was taken by EMS to AnMed Hospital for treatment. Officials did not release details about the extent of his injuries.

“We are thankful no innocent motorists were injured during this incident,” Sheriff Carroll said.

The Georgia State Patrol assisted with the crash investigation.

In addition to DUI, Robinson is expected to face charges including laying drag, reckless driving, felony fleeing, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The pursuit was the second on Saturday involving a Hart County Sheriff’s deputy. According to Carroll, less than two hours earlier, a motorcyclist fled on foot after a pursuit through the Hartwell Walmart parking lot.
