Downtown Clayton Block Party brings cars, music, food and family fun to the mountains

CLAYTON, Ga. — Downtown Clayton will be buzzing with music, food, shopping and family fun on Saturday as the Clayton Merchants & Business Association hosts its annual Downtown Clayton Block Party & Cruise-In.

From 4 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 8, Main Street will fill with classic cars, food trucks, live music and plenty of opportunities to shop, dine and spend time with friends and neighbors. The free event celebrates everything that makes downtown Clayton a favorite destination in the North Georgia mountains.

The cruise-in remains a highlight of the event, with vintage cars, hot rods, classic trucks and other unique vehicles lining Main Street. Visitors can stroll through the displays, meet the owners and hear the stories behind the carefully restored automobiles.

A full day of family fun

The fun begins before the Block Party gets underway.

From noon to 3 p.m., the Clayton Police Department will host the 2nd Annual Auggie Soapbox Derby on Hiawassee Street. The event features race divisions for both children and adults, with registration beginning at noon.

The derby has quickly become a local favorite, drawing racers and spectators for an afternoon of friendly competition.
