Columbus celebrates Juneteenth all month long

The City of Columbus is gearing up for its 5th Annual Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration with a full month of events, dedicated to unity, reflection, and community spirit. With something for everyone, this celebration hopes to bring people together through entertainment, education, wellness, and fun.

From parades and performances to job fairs and tournaments, this citywide series of events offers free, family-friendly opportunities to connect, celebrate, and enjoy the best of what Columbus has to offer.

The official holiday falls on Friday, June 19 and is recognized as a federal holiday. Most area banks will be closed. Non-essential federal, state, and local government offices will also be closed that day. Because the holiday lands on a Friday, it creates a long weekend for many, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
