CLEVELAND, Ga. — A new boil water advisory has been issued for parts of Cleveland after a 6-inch water main broke Friday, affecting many of the same neighborhoods that were under a precautionary advisory earlier this month.
Affected areas
City officials said the new advisory is in effect for customers in the Woodlawn Road, Ridgewood Drive and Highway 75 South area. They issued the advisory as a precaution on July 17.
The advisory impacts Cleveland city water customers in the following areas;
- Woodlawn Drive
- Tradewinds Road
- Pine Lane
- Hardwood Drive
- Moosewood Drive
- Confederate Trail
- Ridgewood Drive
- Keene Drive
- 367 Highway 75 South (Hillside Apartments)
Affected businesses include:
- Cleveland Academy, 50 Woodlawn Drive
- All businesses at 783 South Main Street

What to do
Cleveland city water customers in these areas are advised to boil all water for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. Water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.
City officials noted that Colonial Shopping Mall is not affected because its potable water is supplied from a different water line along Highway 129 South.
Once water service is restored, affected customers will remain under the boil water advisory until at least Tuesday morning, July 22.
Cleveland City Manager Kevin Harris said the city will collect water samples on Monday, July 21, and send them to a certified laboratory for testing. If results confirm the water is safe after 24 hours, the advisory will be lifted.
Déjà vu
This latest advisory comes just two days after the city lifted a previous boil water advisory that had been issued following a 4-inch water main break behind 282 Ridgewood Drive on July 11.
