The Piedmont Columbus Regional Northside Emergency Department is used to handling busy days, but this time the excitement isn’t coming through the ambulance entrance.

A remarkable 11 registered nurses are expecting little ones, creating an unexpected baby boom among one of the hospital’s busiest teams. Two babies have already been born, with nine other arrivals expected in the coming months.

The close-knit team is supporting one another through a unique chapter of life. As they pick out baby names and plan nurseries while continuing to provide around-the-clock emergency care to the community, the Emergency Department team came together and hosted a combined baby shower at the hospital.

Perhaps some future nurses or doctors are among those being welcomed into the world.
