The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office invites the public to bid K9 Roxy a fond farewell on Thursday, August 27, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Habersham County Courthouse.
The 9-year-old bomb-sniffing German Shepherd is retiring from duty and taking up residence with her handler, Lt. Eugene Kemp, and his family in Alto.
Roxy will greet her admirers at her party and, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Rob Moore, “Those attending will receive a K9 Roxy trading card.”
And why not? After nearly nine years on the job and 1,600 deployments, Roxy has earned her superstar status.
