Athens police seek information in fatal dirt bike crash

ATHENS, Ga. — The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is asking for the public’s help as investigators continue looking into a fatal dirt bike crash that claimed the life of a 28-year-old Elberton man.

Police responded around 1:55 p.m. May 16 to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Whit Davis Road and Pettit Lane. Officers found Worley Lorenzo Robinson in the roadway with critical injuries.

According to ACCPD, Robinson was operating a 2012 Suzuki RM-Z450L northbound on Whit Davis Road near Pettit Lane when the crash occurred.

Robinson was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. On May 18, police confirmed he died from his injuries.

Investigators said the crash remains under investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact Senior Patrol Officer Colin Jenkins at [email protected] or 762-400-7354.

The crash is the fifth traffic fatality in Athens-Clarke County in 2026, according to police.
