A violent episode in the emergency room at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Habersham left a security guard injured and landed a patient in jail.

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office says the incident occurred Tuesday, April 30, at the hospital in Demorest.

Warrants allege Christopher Jarred Martin of Alto assaulted a security guard in the ER as he was being restrained. He allegedly bloodied and bruised the guard by kicking him in the face and biting the guard’s hand.

Three other warrants also charge Martin with obstruction of an emergency
medical technician and nurse. The charge applies when someone threatens or commits violence on authorized medical personnel.

As of Friday, May 3, Martin remained in the Habersham County Detention Center.
