Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a “Cybertip” in August that contained information and evidence that a Troup County man was possibly in possession of child pornography.
The investigation led investigators to Brenton Purgason, 24 years old of Hogansville, who was arrested on September 22, and he is charged with sexual exploitation of children – possession of child pornography.
Cybertips are information provided by internet service providers, social media sites, and public reports that are given to an ICAC Task Force, which is a coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies that investigate and prosecute individuals who use the internet to criminally exploit children.
This is an active investigation.
