One lucky lottery player in Talbotton woke up $50,000 richer after last night’s near record Powerball drawing. According to the Georgia Lottery four players won $50,000 in the Aug. 12 Powerball drawing by matching four of the five white-ball numbers and the Powerball.
The tickets were purchased on the Georgia Lottery mobile app by residents in Talbotton, Cumming and Atlanta. One ticket was purchased at the Georgia Lottery Kiosk at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport North Terminal.
The winning numbers were white balls 04, 26, 66, 67, 69 and red Powerball 09. The next drawing will be Aug. 15 for a jackpot of $20 million.
In addition, a Leesburg resident won $10,000 playing the Disco Pig Diggi Game on the Georgia Lottery mobile app on Aug. 12. As with all Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball and Diggi Games benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $31.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 2.3 million students have received HOPE, and more than 2.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
