New charges against drive-by shooter

Six firearms were seized by the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit during a follow-up investigation into a North Lumpkin Rd drive-by shooting.

On May 28, 2026, investigators visited a residence tied to Corey Anderson and took him into custody on active VOP warrants. A search warrant was executed, and six firearms were recovered (one reported stolen).

Anderson was initially charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Theft by Receiving Stolen Property (firearm)

On June 3, 2026, additional shooting-related warrants were obtained and served while he was in custody at Muscogee County Jail:

  • Drive-By Shooting
  • Aggravated Assault x2
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

The Violent Crimes Unit continues efforts to reduce violent crime and remove illegally possessed firearms from the community.
