City water customers in the affected areas are advised to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking, food preparation, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing baby formula and watering pets. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.

The advisory will remain in effect until water testing confirms the system is safe. Once lifted, customers should flush all faucets for at least two minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.

Local food outlets not affected

Officials said Chick-fil-A, Subway, Soda Fountain, Regions Bank, and Ace Hardware are not connected to the affected water line and are not impacted.

Cleveland City Manager Kevin Harris said the affected area will remain under the boil water advisory until at least Friday morning, May 22.

Water samples are scheduled to be sent to a lab on Thursday, May 21. If results are clear after 24 hours, the advisory will be lifted.
