A Columbus Lions football fan is waking up $8,000 dollars richer after nailing a field goal kick inside the Columbus Civic Center Sunday evening. The event was part of the indoor football league’s “Kick It to Win It” challenge.

The winning fan was identified as Fort Valley State University punter Elan Hall who ditched his shoes and stepped up in his socks for the field goal attempt. The Kennesaw native cleared the uprights with a booming 35-yarder the Columbus Lions shared on social media.

Hall was immediately swarmed by both teams after his successful kick. The field goal challenge was all part of the Faith and Family Day at the civic center. Local congregations with the most fans in attendance also had a chance to win $1,000. The Columbus Lions topped the Peach State Cats 54-30 in the Sunday thriller.
