CLARKESVILLE – Habersham County has appointed Kiani Holden as its new finance director, officials announced.
Holden, a lifelong Habersham County resident and 2007 graduate of Habersham Central High School, lives in Demorest with her husband and two daughters.
She began working for the county in October 2013 as an administrative assistant with the Habersham County Fire Department while completing her associate degree in accounting. In February 2015, she was promoted to human resources payroll specialist and administrative assistant under the direction of the human resources director, where she developed an interest in public service.
In July 2016, Holden joined the finance department after earning a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in accounting. As a finance specialist, she managed purchasing and grant responsibilities while assisting with general accounting duties.
Over the years, she has also served in several leadership capacities, including interim human resources director and interim finance director during periods of transition.
Holden has served as interim finance director since December 2024, when Tim Sims transitioned from his previous role as the county’s chief financial officer to county manager.
“Kiani has worked extremely hard to earn this opportunity, and I am very confident in her ability to lead our finance department,” Sims said. “I have had the privilege of working alongside her for many years and have seen firsthand her dedication to this county and our community. She knows our people, understands the needs of Habersham County, and truly wants to make a difference. We are excited to see her continue serving Habersham County in this new role.”
Officials said Holden’s experience and long-standing service to the county position her well to lead the finance department moving forward.
