Tallulah Falls athletics roundup: Records fall, titles won as Indians surge across spring sports

TALLULAH FALLS — It was a banner week across multiple programs for Tallulah Falls School, highlighted by record-breaking performances, region titles, and dominant team wins.

Crumley sets records in Lady Indians’ soccer win

The Lady Indians soccer team picked up a 7-2 home win Tuesday over No. 10 Bethlehem Christian, with Bailey Crumley delivering a historic performance.

Crumley recorded a school-record five assists in the match, surpassing the previous career mark of 26 and pushing her total to 29. She assisted on the opening goal by Leyre Martinez Herreros and added helpers on multiple second-half scores, including three straight goals by LB Kafsky.

Marta Beltran and Betsey Orr also scored for Tallulah Falls, which improved to 5-4 overall and 5-1 in region play.

Boys soccer stays unbeaten in region

The Indians boys soccer team remained perfect in region play with a 6-1 win over Bethlehem Christian, improving to 7-0 in region and 10-1 overall.

Petar Gromiko led the way with a hat trick and two assists, while Simon Gainzarain Hernando added a goal and three assists. Avery Chatman and Ryan Kelsick also scored.
Coach Jeremy Stille noted Gromiko stepped up in the absence of Kale Borcher.

“Petar stepped up … and did very well as a left mid,” Stille said. “He contributed both offensively and defensively.”

Tennis claims region titles in Athens

Tallulah Falls’ tennis program turned in a dominant showing at the GIAA Region Singles/Doubles Tournament in Athens, sweeping the top honors on the girls side.

Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph captured the singles championship for the second consecutive season, defeating teammate Azaria Junaid in the semifinals before winning the title match.

In doubles, Ava Carnes and Charlotte Stafford claimed the championship after defeating teammates Keira Webb and Madison Phillips en route to the title.

On the boys side, Miguel Smith advanced to the singles final to earn region runner-up honors. Doubles teams Christian David and Jackson Davis, along with Glad Puscasu and Cowen Perry, reached the semifinals.

Track and field posts strong finishes, records

Tallulah Falls track and field athletes delivered standout performances at multiple meets during the week.

At the Chestatee Region Tune-Up in Gainesville, Joanna Miller set two school records, winning the 200 meters in 25.96 seconds and placing second in the 100 meters in 12.57 seconds. She also finished second in the 400 and third in the long jump.

Ryan Anderson added a school record on the boys side, winning the 800 meters in 1:56.19. Teagan Penland took first in the 3,200 meters, while several others posted top-five finishes.

At the middle school level, both teams placed second at the Tri-State No. 2 meet at Rabun Gap.

Zachary Bonner led the boys with three first-place finishes, while Dylan Irvin won both the shot put and discus. For the girls, Emily Papandreas won the 300-meter hurdles and high jump, and Fern Johnson took first in the triple jump.

Golf teams sweep Stephens on senior night

Tallulah Falls’ golf teams closed out the week with a pair of wins over Stephens County on senior night at The Orchard.

The boys team won 162-186, while the girls secured an 84-101 victory.

Kalvin Ngov earned low medalist honors with a personal-best 38. Ryder Cantrell and Max Pulliam each shot 40, and Owen Earp added a 44.

For the girls, Maeve Hatcher and Handley James each posted a 42, with Alex Rokasko finishing at 53.

Ngov, Tate Turpin, Rylee Smith and Wyatt Dorsey were recognized as seniors prior to the match.

“I am so proud of Kalvin for his performance this afternoon,” coach CJ Stockel said. “Kalvin saved his best for senior night. The girls had another great day as they prepared as a team for state in two weeks.”
