ATHENS, Ga. — The Athens Rock Lobsters will wrap up their regular season tonight with a road matchup against the Monroe Moccasins, then quickly shift their attention to the postseason as the Federal Prospects Hockey League playoffs begin next week.
The regular-season finale comes after what the team is calling a historic 2025–26 campaign, highlighted by strong on-ice performance and record-setting fan support at Akins Ford Arena.
Through 28 home games, Athens drew 125,611 fans — an average of 4,486 per game — ranking second in the league in attendance while holding first place in the Continental Division entering the final weekend.
Tonight’s game against Monroe also serves as a preview of the postseason, with both teams positioned near the top of the division standings.
“Our players and staff have embraced the expectations that come with competing at a high level every night,” said general manager and head coach Garrett Rutledge. “The support from our fans has been a driving force behind our success this season.”
Team officials credited the atmosphere at Akins Ford Arena — nicknamed “The Tank” — as a key factor in the team’s home-ice advantage throughout the year.
In just its second season, the franchise has continued to grow its footprint in Athens, building one of the strongest fan bases in the league, team president Scott Hull said.
“The momentum surrounding this team both on and off the ice has been incredible to watch,” Hull said. “We encourage fans to come out, be part of this playoff run, and help us continue building something special here in Athens.”
The Rock Lobsters will open the first round of the Commissioners Cup Playoffs on April 17 at home. The opening round will follow a best-of-three format, with a potential Game 3 scheduled for April 19 at Akins Ford Arena.
Playoff tickets are now on sale through the team’s website and ticket office.
