Fire Danger will be extremely high across all of Georgia on Saturday.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the entire state due to the high fire danger from Saturday morning through Saturday evening. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire state under an Elevated risk for quick-spreading fire, with the far southeastern part of the state under a Critical risk.
A combination of very low relative humidity, already dry ground and breezy winds will create this risk. Relative humidity values will drop into the 10-15% range across most of the state during the afternoon.
The worst combination of low humidity and gusty winds will occur around 5-8 p.m. when the most widespread wind gusts are expected. Winds will be strongest over the mountains and south of I-20 all day, but winds could gust to 15 m.p.h. anywhere across the state.
Burning is strongly discouraged, if not illegal depending on the municipality today. Most days we would say use caution, but today just don’t burn whatsoever.
