
ATLANTA — Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has called a special election for House District 121 following the resignation of State Rep. Marcus Wiedower.
Voters in Clarke and Oconee counties will head to the polls on December 9, 2025, to fill the vacancy. If needed, a runoff will take place on January 6, 2026.

Wiedower, a Republican, has represented Oconee and Clarke Counties in the state legislature since 2019. He announced last month that he is stepping down to focus on his role as vice president of external affairs at a real estate development company.
Candidate qualifying
Those wishing to run for the vacant seat may qualify at the Secretary of State’s Elections Division, located at 2 MLK Jr. Drive, Floyd West Tower, Suite 802 in Atlanta. The qualifying fee is $400.
Qualifying schedule:
- Thursday, Nov. 6 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, Nov. 7 — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Monday, Nov. 10 — 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Voter registration and early voting
The deadline to register to vote is Monday, Nov. 10, 2025. Advance, in-person voting begins Monday, Nov. 17, 2025.
House District 121 includes portions of Clarke and Oconee counties.
