Fire officials are investigating the cause of a structure fire that broke out Thursday afternoon in an abandoned house in Mt. Airy.
A 911 caller alerted authorities to the fire after seeing heavy smoke in the area of GA 15/US 441 North around 1:30 p.m. on May 22. Multiple fire units responded to the scene at 243 Glade Creek Parkway. Northbound traffic was temporarily reduced to one lane due to emergency vehicles blocking the roadway.
According to Habersham County Public Information Officer Ashlyn Brady, no one was living in the home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
