ATHENS — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman found dead last month along Atlanta Highway.

According to Katie Jenkins, public information officer for the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, officers discovered the deceased woman Jan. 27 in the 3100 block of Atlanta Highway. Investigators believe her death may have been the result of cold weather exposure.
The woman did not have identification and remains unidentified.
She has brown hair and brown eyes and appears to be between 40 and 50 years old, Jenkins said. She is approximately 5 feet tall and weighs about 119 pounds. She was wearing the clothing described in a department-issued notice at the time she was found.
Anyone who knows or believes they know the woman’s identity is asked to contact Detective D. Harrison at 762-400-7361 or [email protected].
The investigation is ongoing, Jenkins said.
