CLEVELAND, Ga. – The White County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in the county. The commissioners approved a resolution designating the observance during their Aug. 31 regular meeting.
Reading the proclamation, Chairman Travis Turner said, “There is currently no reliable screening test for the early detection of ovarian cancer, making the awareness of the signs and symptoms especially important.”
Donna Setzer accepted the proclamation on behalf of Harts of Teal and Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. Harts of Teal is an initiative to educate women on the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer.
